"Test connection" only calls the device's unauthenticated /api/info — it doesn't log in, so it never uses one of the 15 concurrent token slots. The device is a slow embedded system (~3s per image) — a low parallel limit avoids overwhelming it while the image cache is warming up. Saving with a changed URL or password logs in fresh on the next request (the saved token is for the previous device).
